Genève Roule: bikes for free

Hello bloggers!!!
The sun is shining these days and in this occasion I just bought the first bicycle of my life (after months and months thinking about it). If you don't have a bike yet I've found this association, named Genève Roule, where you'll be able to get a bike for free for 4 hours (from the 5th hour on, 2.-chf per hour). They just need your ID and a 20.-chf cash deposit. Or instead, you can rent a bike for the entire day starting from 12.-chf, or 8.-chf for half a day. Chain and helmet included of course.
You can find Genève Roule spots behind Cornavin station, in Eaux-Vives Terrassière, right next to the Bains de Pâquis, in the Plainpalais square, in Rue du Rhône and in Fontaines de Carouge. Main shops in Cornavin and Eaux-Vives are open from 8am to 9pm.
For any other information or to reserve your bike online go to www.geneveroule.ch
Happy bike ride!

Summer ice-creams

I don't need a lot of words for this post about ice creams. I'm sure you already know Gelatomania which is almost everywhere in Geneva, but now we have a new entry top gelateria in town. "MANU il gelato italiano" is in Rue de Carouge, 65. What else? Try it...

Cocorose folding shoes

This post is For Women Only (or for boyfriends searching for a present for their girlfriends ;) )
We all love heels, it's true, they're sexy and they make us feel pretty... But when we go out at night with a pair of 12 cm, after a couple of hours we are almost dead. Or when we go to work on our heels, and we feel like a real business woman, but at the end of the day we can barely walk... I think heels are a girl's best friends but actually it's not so sexy complaining about our feet and how much they hurt. Too many times while dancing I said "there shoes are killing me", but now it's time for a revolution!
Cocorose London invented the folding ballet pumps. You wear your heels in the morning and you put your ballet pumps in your bag (they're super small). When you're too tired to still stand your heels, you put them away and you wear the ballet pumps. Nothing is easier! And they are beautiful of course. As it's written in their website "Making your life stylish, and practical".
In Geneva you can find them in Balexert, at the Michel Boutique. They have just a few models but it's worth the try. If you don't like them and it happens to you to travel a bit, you can find boutiques in London, in England, in Italy (Milan, Turin, Rome etc) or you can shop online at www.cocoroselondon.com or at www.runwayshowroom.it.
For cheapest ideas you can find something at H&M, but quality won't be the same... Honestly, I can't wait to have them at my feet!!!

Back in town, the weekend starts at Capocaccia!

Good morning Geneva!
So here I am again. What did you do yesterday night? I was @ Capocaccia, of course! Not a lot of people know this place, but it's really popular among IT-alians.
At the top of the Centre Confédération right in the centre of the city, Rue du Marché, in a cosy atmosphere, you can have a drink or eat a salad with real italian jambon of Parma and mozzarella, or a panino (and by the way please, panino is singular, panini is plural, you cannot eat A panini! Thanks!) But the coolest thing at Capocaccia is thursday! The italian "aperitivo" we all miss so much takes place, so from 6pm you can enjoy a delicious buffet and drink a glass of wine or champagne or whatever, with a DJ mixing electro-house music.
At anytime you can go and sit inside, trying the best cappuccino in the morning, a soft but gooood lunch on the balcony outside or a nice after work apero with friends. I've fallen in love with Capocaccia when I first arrived in Geneva two years ago, and the mood is always the same, friendly and perfect to start your weekend!
All the information @ http://www.capocaccia.com
Hope you like it!

Don't forget the €uro!

Geneva is not like Moschino chic and cheap. Geneva is chic, ok, but expensive. Way too expensive. I'm a student so I know what i'm talking about, plus I admit i'm spoiled, I love good things, from clothes to food... I need an unlimited credit card... My parents are desperate :D The point is: I've found a solution! The solution is France!
Now maybe i'm wrong, but i think even franchisings like H&M or Zara are more expensive in Geneva than in France. Try the Etrembières mall, where you can find every kind of shop, with affordable prices, or go to Annemasse centre, which is full of nice shops! And how could we forget Annecy? Beautiful boutiques for men and women and a breathtaking view... The right place to spend a relaxing day walking around, going shopping of course but also taking nice pictures or just sipping a coffee in front of a landscape made by flowers and little bridges crossing the river. Sooo romantic!
Food: I go once a week to the open air markets, like the Ferney-Voltaire one on saturdays. There are a lot of markets all around Geneva (Divonne-les-Bains is really nice too), but in my opinion FV is the best. Fist of all, you can easily get there by bus (from Cornavin, bus F to Ferney-Gex, stop at Avenue du Jura), the stop is just in front of the market. Second, it's huge and there's EVERYTHING. Clothes, vegetables, knives, sweets, cheese, music, paella, chicken etc... But, if you like fish this place is like heaven... You can buy fish and seafood and take it away, or you can eat there. They have a wide choice of oysters, gambas, sea urchins and other things cooked or "nature", they give you white wine and the aperitif is ready! Of course this is not a restaurant but just a well organized market, so do not expect a chic location or a romantic lunch... But I promise, food is amazing! And if we want to talk about prices, you will never find a restaurant where you eat that much and pay 40€ per head ( this is the max i've ever paid there, and i really eat a lot every time :D )
What else?!? Have a good smart shopping!

Vert Bouteille...

I was with some friends tonight and after dinner we were searching for some place to drink something... At first we decided to go to Carouge, so we parked the car in Place du Marché and then we just walked a bit. I think everybody knows the Chat Noir pub, or the other one right in front of it (I admit it, I have no idea about the name of the second one)... Anyway, there was no place to sit at all, and we just wanted to talk, relax and drink something. Then we tried the place next to the Chat Noir... There was not a lot of people standing outside, but inside all the tables were taken... except one! Yeeeeah, we got our place!
I've completely fallen in love with a wall entirely made with bottles (green glass bottles), then the wine was really good and the waiter so nice and "sympa", and I loved the chill out music too... I've seen they have offers for the happy hour during the week, and they also prepare small tapas and food, so I should have a try on a wednesday evening. Anyway I recommend you this place because it's a bit hidden by the other two pubs but it could be a nice idea if you want to go somewhere new in Carouge ;)
The name is Vert Bouteille, of course! Santé!

Luigia, the original pizza from Naples! Miaaaam!

I can't wait for tonight... We're gonna have dinner @ Luigia! This restaurant-pizzeria is new in Geneva, right in the centre of the city. The location seems like a lunapark, with hundreds of little lights and the images of the Disney cartoons all around, it really makes you feel happy! I think the best table is the central one, where you eat next to other people and you start talking to everyone (it also happened that I tasted someone else's pizza). Anyway, even if you don't get a place in the central table it's really worth the try! You cannot reserve but the service is very quick and you can wait for a table at the bar drinking a beer or a good glass of Italian wine. My advice? Don't miss "i petali", which is one of the "pizza à partager", made with truffles, smoked cheese, ham and mozzarella! Sooo good!!!
Here is the website of the restaurant with all the information: http://www.luigia.ch/
I wait for your comments ;)
Enjoy!

What to do on sunny days?

Here we are, it's spring time and the weather is finally sunny! We are not used to it, but Geneva really offers lots of possibilities.
I love sunbathing at the Bains de Paquis http://www.bains-des-paquis.ch/ until 6pm and then move to La Terrasse http://www.laterrasse.ch/, just a few steps away! Cheap drinks on the grass, new faces every day and an amazing view on the lake!
I should open a new chapter for the Bains de Paquis. In fact this place is not just for sunbathing! Delicious salads for lunch and one of the best fondues in town for dinner until 9pm. Plus sauna and hammam area, perfect on sundays or when it's cold outside. Enjoy!
Another nice place to go is the Wake Board beach, on the side of Geneve Plage... The location is really nice, from April to September they organize aperos and parties in a cool atmosphere and the dj offers a wide range of music all the day long! You can even have lunch at the bar... Follow all the activities on http://www.trop.ch/.
If something else comes into my mind, i'll write it down later!
Keep in touch!
